The Potpecka cave is in the village of Potpec, 14 km southeast of city of Uzice. It is unique in its monumental entrance in the shape of a horseshoe. The entrance with 50 m hight and 22 m width under the arch, makes it cave mouth the largest one in Serbia. It is carved into a limestone cliff. The explored section, adapted for visitors, is 555 m long. The path in and out of the cave has over 700 steps.
Mileseva canyon represents the natural shelter for diversity of old and rare flora and fauna, that existed here for millions of years. Special mark of this place in intact nature. Canyon cliffs are 300m tall.
Durmitor is a mountain and national park in Montenegro. It is believed that Durmitor origin is Celtic, from “dru mi tore” which means “mountain full of water”. Durmitor landscapes, by their beauty and intact nature are declared as National Park in 1952. It is located in the Montenegro north-west. There are 48 peaks over 2000 masl in Durmitor; the tallest of all is Bobotov Kuk with 2523 masl. The special beauty to Durmitor landscape represent 18 glacier lakes, named “mountain eyes” , that are located above 1500 masl. The largest and most attractive is Black lake.
Skadar lake is the larges lake in Montenegro, and in Balkan Peninsula, with total area of 369.7 square kilometers. The length of lake is 40 km, and width is 14km in some places. It floats to Adriatic sea over Bojana river. The lake is full of islands and peninsulas that have marks of history and present valuable historical heritage. Clear trough water and intact ambient were the key factor for develop of rich Eco-system. This is the only habitat of Pelicans in South Europe. The Skadar lake was declared as National Park in 1983.
Lovcen is a mountain in Montenegro. It is located in the southwest of Montenegro and it stratch to the Adriatic shores. Two tallest mountain peaks are Stirovnik (1749 masl) and Jezerski vrh (aka Lake peak, 1657 masl). The Lovcen is habitat for 1158 different plants, of which 4 are endemic.
Mrtvica canyon is one of the most beautiful canyons in former republic of Yugoslavia. This lays hidden below Maganik mountain and it presents the true treasure of intact nature.
Uvac canyon is special nature reserve. It is the largest habitat in Balkan peninsula for griffin vultures. Canyon is located between Zlatar and Javor mountains. Uvac is well know for its meanders, that river cut trough limestone.
You walk every day with just a daypack. The rest/unnecessary luggage either remains inside the transfer vehicle, or in your accommodation. The walking treks are rather arduous and suitable for people experienced in alpine trekking.
Day 1. Departure from Belgrade (Serbia capital city) in afternoon. Before we hit the road, there will be a short introduction with traditional Serbia breakfast (burek, bakery …). We will travel trough Western Serbia. During the trip we will make few short breaks. Arival to Zlakusa ethno village that is located near Pozega. Zlakusa is well know for pottery and unique Potpecka cave. Observation of the cave jewelery in the decorated part of the cave for tourists. When we end the visit, we will go to the nearby ethno restaurant. Break with drink and traditional meal in the delightful ambient of the restaurant. From here we will continue our journey through the Zlatibor plateau. Arrival to the Vilovi village, located on the Zlatar Mountain. Accommodation in a nice mountain house with a beautiful view of Zlatar Mountain. There are comfortable double rooms available. Within the mountain house there is a restaurant.
Day 2. For this day, the plan is an adventure through the canyon of the Medjan and Mileseva river. Those two rivers are separating the mountain Zlatar from the mountain Jadovnik. After breakfast we leave the accommodation. A short trip to the village of Medjan which is located in the hidden parts of the Zlatar Mountain. Walking to the village of Medjani. Tasting local products (natural honey, sweets and wild fruits jam, homemade cheese). Continuation of the hike with the entrance to the canyon of the Medjanska river. We will cross the river in two occasions. In this area there are rare examples of endemic species of oak trees; Pancic peat. Hiking through the carved path in canyon cliffs. At the exit from canyon you will enjoy in wonderful view to the medieval town of Milesevac. From here we have a short walk to the Milesevo monastery that we will visit. Close to monastery, on the bank of Mileseva river, there is a restaurant with beautiful ambient. In here we will make a longer break for lunch and refreshment with coffee or drink. After the break we will continue with our trip to Monetenegro. Next break will be in Djurdjevica Tara place. In here you can try the zip line that overpass the beautiful Tara canyon. From here we have a short trip to the Zabljak (mountain town) at 1450 masl. We will be placed in beautiful mountain house with view to the Durmitor mountain. We offer a pleasant apartment accommodation. Within the mountain house there is a restaurant.

Day 3. For the third day we have in plan hiking trough extraordinary landscapes and viewsights. After breakfast in mountain house we will have a short travel to the Sedlo bend (1907 masl). There is an option to have breakfast in nature, per wish. Hiking with view to fascinating Zupci peaks. After arrival and longer breaks near glacier lake Zeleni Vir (2028 masl) we will continue with our ascent to the Durmitor peak, called Bobotov Kuk (2523 masl). After long break at the top for photo and enjoying in the stunning view, we will walk down to the Ledena (Icy) Cave (2164 masl). Descending to the Black Lake (1421 masl), and then back to Zabljak. Return to the mountain house.

Day 4. We will start with the journey, and this is a day for relaxation. We will be driven trough Stavna mountain place and Niksic town to the lower Ostrog monastery. From here we will walk to the upper Ostrog monastery. Ostrog monastery presents one of the most important Orthodox Christianity monasteries. After we complete the monastery visit, we will continue our journey to the Reka Crnojevica fisherman village. The town got the name by the same name river that float into Skadar lake. We use the time to ride in boats by the lake and taste fish and other specialties. Then we will drive over Cetinje town to the Njegusi (880 masl) place. That is a small place that is located in the slopes of the Lovcen mountain in Njegos field, and it is part of the National park. Accommodation in the mountain houses. The mountain house has the restaurant with the national kitchen specialties.

Day 5. We will go to the hike with basic items and small backpacks. The rest of our items and equipment will be transferred by the vehicle. The path will lead us over old austro-hungarian roads and mountain paths to the top of Lovcen mountain, the Jezerski Vrh (Lake Peak 1657masl). At the top there is a mausoleum devoted to the greatest monarch of Montenegro, Petar II Petrović Njegos. There is a spectacular view to the Adriatic sea. We will descend trough Medjuvrsje valley down to the Krstac. From here we will take the caravan road, built by austro-hungarian military, to the old town of Kotor. This path has magnificent viewpoints to the Boka Kotorska bay and Adriatic sea. Tour trough the old town. After city tour we will travel to Podgorica, which is Montenegro capital city. Accommodation is located near city center.

Day 6. The day will start with driving trough the Moraca canyon to the Medjurecje. This is the place where Mrtvica river runs into Moraca river. Walking trough the stunning Mrtvica canyon. Visiting the most attractive canyon marks, such as: Mrtvica beam, Aphrodite bath, wish gate, Nera springs. Walking back the same path. Traveling back to Serbia, to the Vilovi village, from where we have started our journey. We will be placed in beautiful mountain house with view to the Zlatar mountain. There are comfortable double rooms available. Within the mountain house there is a restaurant.

Day 7. After the breakfast we will have a one hour drive over the Zlatibor mountain to the Uvac canyon. Hiking on the wonderful and easy path, with a stunning view to Uvac river. Arrival to the Molitva (Prayer, 1200 masl) viewpoint. Observing the rare bird, and the most specific of them all are griffin vultures. Descend to the river shore. Driving with the boat to the Ledena cave (Icy cave). Entrance to the adopted section of the cave, that is rich with the cave stalagmites and stalactites. We will continue driving by boat to Markova plato camp. In here we can refresh ourself with tea or coffee. Short walk to the vehicle. Traveling back to Belgrade. During our way back we will make few short breaks. Arrival in Belgrade. Accommodation in apartment near city center. Overnight stay.
Walk time: The walk time for above mentioned days, does not include breaks for photo shooting, meals and faculty trips. Average walk speed is 3-5 km/h, depending on the slope and surface. Average altitude gain is 300-350 m/h.
